City announces Sloan Transportation Authority kickoff, pavement and electrification program timelines

Engineering staff told the commission the community-based Sloan Transportation Authority will hold a public kickoff meeting on Jan. 22, 2025 (4–6 p.m.) to seek input on transit and pedestrian safety; staff said it will present project findings to TAC in February.
Staff also said the electrification technical assistance program held a kickoff Dec. 9 and will start program activities in spring and summer 2025, leading to a future TAC presentation. On pavement preservation, staff reported the city submitted an application for a pavement technical assistance program with a local match of roughly $5,000 and said the city expects to hear by March whether it received the grant. "They're gonna be seeking input from the community," staff said of the Sloan Transportation Authority kickoff.
Staff additionally reported pending RCE grants for a Parkway overpass investigation and issues delaying rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the 4th and A HSIP project due to electrical subcontractor problems.
