Extension office briefs committee on workshops, grants and youth programming

Extension representative Hilda reported to the committee on programming and recent grants. She said the growing season has been slow due to cool nights but that planting, workshops (grape tailgate, mushroom, onion), pasture walks and an AI workshop are underway. Hilda highlighted a large grant to help the village of Canastillo build and sustain a community garden.
Hilda also reported that a large nutrition education grant application was not successful; as a result, county nutrition‑education offerings to the public are limited unless alternate funding or partnerships are found. Extension is working on partnerships and outreach to continue programs in schools and the community.
