Facilities staff outline upgrades at Dolores Wright Community Center and other Chaparral projects

Christopher Valencia, a project manager with Doña Ana County Facilities & Services, briefed attendees on related facility projects in Chaparral during the virtual update. "My name is Christopher Valencia. I'm a project manager with facilities and services," he said before outlining several efforts connected to the Dolores Wright Community Center.
Valencia said staff are seeking funding to upgrade soccer-field lighting and will hold an in-person community input meeting on Aug. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Betty McKnight to solicit feedback for Dolores Wright. He also said staff will hold an internal Zoom on Aug. 5 to discuss splash-pad maintenance if that amenity is added, and noted a planned senior addition that would connect the main building to a new corridor. For a separate kitchen renovation at Betty McKnight, Valencia reported "We have a $1,000,000 budget on that" to incorporate a food pantry. He said a renovation/addition at Chaparral Fire Station No. 44 is advancing in design but remains contingent on funding.
