The council approved permits tied to the Maine Cheese Festival and related tasting events set for September. Heather Donahue, a festival organizer and member of the Maine Cheese Guild, told the council the event will host about 65 vendors (roughly 20 cheese makers), food trucks, music and children's activities and noted the Department of Agriculture will bring a practice‑milking demonstration. Donahue said the festival began in 2019 and this is the 10th annual event overall and the seventh year hosted in Pittsfield.
Council approved Resolution 26‑59 for a special amusement/public exhibition license and Resolution 26‑60 authorizing a tasting/catering area (Sept. 13). Donahue described a ticketed tasting model for sample pours and said full bottles/cans could be sold for off‑site consumption in sealed containers under state rules. The council also approved Resolution 26‑61 granting a liquor license for Outland at Phillips Corner Road.
Organizers requested permission to mount festival banners at Pittsfield’s welcome signs; council members asked staff to place the request on the next agenda for follow‑up. The approvals clear the town’s permits for the September festival.
