Exeter lays out detour routes as Front/Linden/Pine intersection closes for roundabout

The town detailed east–west and north–south detour routes and a temporary two-way operation on Gill Street while the Front/Linden/Pine intersection is closed for a roundabout; officials said the closure will last about four weeks.
The Town of Exeter will close the intersection of Front, Linden and Pine Streets during roundabout construction and will put detour signage in place before the detour begins on Aug. 6, the presenter said.
For east–west travel on Front Street, drivers will be detoured north to use Lincoln Street, Main Street and Water Street. For north–south travel via Linden or Pine Streets, the presenter described two options: using Court Street through downtown or using Gill Street, which will temporarily become a two-way street where it meets Lincoln Street to allow additional turning movements. "This will allow road users to take a right onto Gill Street to come out onto Linden Street in addition to the normal path," the presenter said.
The presenter also noted an alternate route using Gary Lane from Port Street to Linden Street. The town cautioned the closure will cause significant impacts for regular travelers but said it preferred a four-week full closure to a project with partial closures that could have lasted until December.
