Torrance County commissioners declare March 30 session informational after posting error; special meeting rescheduled

Chairman Ryan Schwebach opened the March 30, 2026 special meeting and told those present that the public notice had been posted incorrectly, listing the meeting date as "Wednesday, March 30," which created confusion about the correct meeting date and potential issues with public participation. He said the commission determined it could not legally conduct the meeting and that any remarks would be informational only.

"Any discussion is informational only. No formal motions or actions are technically valid under these circumstances," Schwebach said. The commissioners agreed to repost the notice and reschedule the special meeting for Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The commission also announced the next regular meeting would be held April 8, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting record lists the determinations and schedule change but notes that substantive decisions cannot be taken at the March 30 gathering because of the posting error.
