Torrance County approved March 11 a budget adjustment reallocating $16,600 from the Boys Council program to the Girls Circle program within the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families juvenile justice funding.
Rebecca Armstrong, Justice Board coordinator, explained the change reflects differences in facilitator staffing and remaining sessions: the Girls Circle program has two facilitators and requires additional funding to complete scheduled sessions, while the Boys Council program currently has one facilitator and less remaining capacity. Armstrong said the goal is to ensure available funds are fully utilized before fiscal year end and avoid returning unspent funds to the state.
Chairman Ryan Schwebach moved to approve; Commissioner Kevin McCall seconded, and the roll call vote was unanimous.
