County Clerk Sylvia Chavez presented the canvass of the all-mail Estancia Municipal School bond election. Of 2,749 ballots mailed, 481 were returned and 448 accepted following verification; 310 votes were recorded FOR the bond and 137 AGAINST, meeting the two-thirds requirement for passage. One ballot required a hand tally due to physical damage; 33 ballots were rejected, most commonly for missing signatures or missing the last four digits of the voter's Social Security number on the affidavit envelope.
Chavez described the all-mail process as "nice and similar to absentee processes," saying voters appreciated time at home to research the bond and some respondents expressed interest in becoming permanent absentee voters. The Commission approved the canvass by roll-call vote (Schwebach absent; McCall yes; Jaramillo yes).
