Commissioners discussed repair costs for the county EMA vehicle and agreed to move forward with repairs. Tory (EMA director) said the recent issues would likely cost "a couple thousand" dollars to fix and emphasized that the vehicle's lights and radios had recently cost about $12,000.
"Like, in my opinion... it's worth putting money into," Tory said, describing the vehicle as in good condition inside and out despite the mechanical problem. Commissioners debated whether to shift existing EMA budget lines to cover the repair or wait until a new director is hired; several members urged using current EMA funds so the unit remains operational.
Board members directed the vehicle to be taken to a local shop (Howard Burton or Stanley) for diagnostics and asked staff to report exact repair estimates back at the next meeting.
