Mayor Bill Schneider told council that Martin Baer, the city’s property maintenance inspector, passed away Friday; the mayor expressed condolences and said the city was awaiting information about services. Hitch also said a cabin roof is 90% complete and the city must abandon a septic tank that is creating an overflow into the creek, an EPA concern.
Finance Director Jennifer Pei said the city posted openings for service and recreation department positions and received over 140 applications; the city also posted a police lateral entry vacancy open through June 12. Council members offered condolences and thanked staff for public‑service work.
