Council refers Lorraine Road design and deer‑management items to committees
Summary
On first reading the council placed Ord. 26‑26 (Lorraine Road infrastructure design services) and Ord. 26‑27 (USDA APHIS cooperative agreement for white‑tailed deer management) and referred them to relevant committees for review.
At the May 18 meeting the clerk read titles for several first‑reading items. Ordinance 26‑26, originated by Megan Otter, would authorize the mayor to request proposals and enter a contract for professional design services for the Lorraine Road infrastructure enhancement project and declare an emergency. Ordinance 26‑27, requested by Mayor Bill Schneider, would authorize a cooperative service agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services for the city's white‑tailed deer management plan.
Both items were placed on first reading and referred to the Environment, Public Works, Planning, Zoning and Development Committee for additional review. Council members said committee review would allow staff to return with details on scope, budget and implementation.
