Terry Ferguson informed the Finance Committee that Kevin Kemp, the county maintenance supervisor, submitted his resignation effective April 17, 2026, and suggested recreating the position.
Committee members debated the need for a salaried maintenance supervisor when the county has two hourly maintenance workers. Claro Carter said he preferred designating a lead maintenance worker paid a stipend rather than recreating a salaried supervisor role; Megan Myers asked for clearer information on in-house work versus contracted services and said she needed to speak with the maintenance staff. The committee ultimately voted to table the motion to recreate the maintenance supervisor position until the Property committee meets and recommends next month. The resignation date and the request to await a Property committee recommendation were recorded in the minutes.
No final personnel action was taken at the March meeting; the matter will return for committee review after Property committee recommendations are provided.
