Finance committee recommends appointment to DeWitt County Extension Service Board

The DeWitt County Finance Committee on March 16 voted to recommend that the county board chair appoint the Finance Committee to the DeWitt County Extension Service Board.
Chair Melonie Tilley reported the Extension Service had requested appointed members. Jamie Boas, Extension County Director, told the committee that an extension board facilitates cooperation between Extension councils and the county governing board and that the Extension County Director had requested appointment authority as authorized by statute. The meeting record includes a draft resolution that references the County Cooperative Extension Law and 505 ILCS 45/7 to authorize appointments. The motion to recommend appointment was moved by Terry Ferguson, seconded by Jamie Prestegaard, and carried by voice vote.
The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the county board chair for formal appointment per the law and county procedures.
