Industry and university speakers praised the administration's announcements and described tangible steps to scale capacity and hire local workers. An industry speaker representing MP Materials said the company is producing magnets "100% American made" that are being delivered to GM and that the facility will triple capacity and later expand further to serve other customers. "We're gonna increase capacity, for American industry," that speaker said.
A university representative who self-identified as Paul Johnson described a planned 50,000-square-foot commercialization hub intended to accelerate technology from idea to pilot to commercialization and said the school's commercialization hub would support rapid product development and workforce training.
