The city clerk read the ordinance in summary and the mayor noted the item had been approved at a previous meeting in principle but required the formal ordinance format.
During the roll call, the council recorded votes as follows: Todd Thomas — Aye; Chris Larson — Nay; Brett Dodge — Aye. Mayor and council members noted a prior public hearing produced "lots of dialogue, but there was not 1 individual or group that was against this," and the council approved the ordinance based on considerations including improved parking and traffic flow in the area.
The ordinance had been requested to be finalized for timing reasons related to a property owner (Mr. Roberts) and an LDS Church-related parcel. The clerk's summary and the council's roll-call adoption complete the formal step required to remove the segment from the major-street plan.
