Council proclaims April Fair Housing Month, approves Week of the Young Child and hears CAPSA report

The Preston City Council ratified two proclamations on March 24: one designating April as Fair Housing Month, marking the 57th anniversary of Title VIII of the Housing Civil Rights Act of 1968, and another designating April 5–11, 2025 as the Week of the Young Child to recognize early childhood educators.
City Clerk Linda Acock read both proclamations and the council gave unanimous approval. Following the proclamations, Alyna Ohling of CAPSA reported on the organization's 2024 work and described the SAFE Adult (Specific, Approachable, Feelings, Empower) program, which emphasizes training and outreach to parents, educators, youth leaders and clergy.
The proclamations are ceremonial recognitions; the CAPSA presentation provided the council with an update on local services and education-focused outreach.
