The Planning Commission on April 8 declared its intent to act as lead agency for coordinated SEQR review of a proposed light mechanic shop and retail renovation at 614 South Street. Jorge B. Hernandez of ARQ Architecture described interior renovation, the merger of three lots and the creation of 11 parking spaces to serve the shop.
Hernandez said the project would reorganize retail and service space to create an approximately 11‑space parking lot on the adjoining parcel. "We are creating 11 parking spaces and the adjacent lot for the use," he said. Commissioners asked follow‑up questions about stormwater impacts if the proposal proceeds to 100% impervious surface, what chemicals or fuels would be stored on site and whether neighboring jurisdictions and advisory committees (including the Conservation Advisory Council and nearby villages) should be circulated as interested agencies. The commission approved the lead‑agency intent and directed staff to circulate the notice and environmental documentation to involved and interested agencies.
