DPW reports tree removals and ongoing maintenance; Sakowich Park now open

DPW Superintendent Igor Sikiric gave a status report on operations, saying monthly maintenance along Jericho Turnpike and other corridors continues and that DPW crews installed, repaired or replaced approximately 25 street signs in June. He noted about 45 service requests via the village app in June (mostly tree-related), approximately 20 potholes and 5 road repairs performed, and that the DPW renovation project is mostly complete pending contractor punch-list work.
Sikiric reported that several wind events in June required removal of eight trees and the contractor conducted 15 tree trims and 10 tree removals; the village is accepting fall tree-planting requests via the MyVNHP app. "Sakowich Park is now complete and has been fully opened to the public," he said, and Park amenities including pickleball courts and the dog park were reported to be operating smoothly.
