Gage County Board of Equalization approves valuation changes for dozens of parcels

The Gage County Board of Equalization convened July 24, 2026, and approved a series of valuation adjustments and referee recommendations affecting dozens of parcels across the county.
Vice Chairman Emily M. Haxby read into the record the lists of referee recommendations and protests; after motions from board members the board approved many changes by unanimous votes and several by split votes. Notable outcomes included an omnibus motion to approve the multi-page list of valuation changes (motion by Rex Adams, seconded by Terry Jurgens; motion carried 4–0) and separate motions that adjusted high-value parcels such as a reduction for JZTZRE, LLC and referee-driven adjustments for other commercial and residential properties.
The board also accepted referee revisions presented during the meeting — for example, it approved a revised recommendation to lower parcel #009695000 (John Schoneweis) to $500,975 (motion carried 4–0) and approved referee-recommended separate valuations for small adjoining parcels brought by Stan Meyer (Equinox Consulting LLC). The board declared the meeting adjourned at 4:08 p.m.; the record was certified by County Clerk Dawn Hill.
The actions will change taxable valuations recorded for the 2026 assessment year for the parcels listed in the minutes; specific parcels and the 'Change To' amounts were read into the record and approved as part of the motions.
