LIRR summer cutover to suspend New Hyde Park service July 24–27, village warned

Trustee Rainer Burger told trustees the Long Island Rail Road will conduct a signal-system cutover the weekend of July 24, requiring major service suspensions. "The Hempstead Branch trains will not run starting at 8:00pm on Friday July 24th until 4:00am on Monday July 27th," Burger said, and he enumerated outages on Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and other branches that will affect New Hyde Park service.
The board advised residents to plan for altered commutes: the Hempstead Branch suspension, the split busing on the Oyster Bay Branch and cross-honoring on NICE and NYCT buses at stations without bus replacements. Burger said Mineola-to-Jamaica busing and Central Branch transfers will serve some riders; the village urged riders at New Hyde Park, Merillon Avenue, Carle Place and Westbury to check operator notices before travel. The briefing also noted the broader Queens Interlocking modernization and Floral Park/Bellerose reconstruction projects that prompted the cutover.
