Law Director reported that on Sunday morning a pipe inside a first-floor women's restroom burst and water flowed into the building's two basements. City personnel responded immediately, engaged a specialty remediation contractor and notified the insurance company; an adjuster inspected the site and the city expects the insurer to manage the claim and remediation process.
"It was discovered in Sunday morning about 09:40," the law director said, recounting how staff shut off systems and coordinated cleanup. He said the city exhausted a small deductible quickly but that remediation contractors (Dane Construction) were on site and departments have continued functioning with temporary relocations to alternate workspaces. City officials said they will present insurance-renewal and premium information to council in early June.
Provenance: The water-leak report and follow-up discussion took place during the directors' reports segment and the city-hall remediation updates later in the meeting.
