Lawmakers probe privacy, cybersecurity as GIO seeks to roll up local imagery and lidar

"No. I agree wholeheartedly with you on that," Susan said in response to concerns about privacy and UAVs, adding that federal guidance and vendor quality standards limit unacceptable practices. She also said highly accurate data can reduce errors (for example, distinguishing a mobile chicken coop) and that the GIO will work closely with GTA on cybersecurity requirements.
Lawmakers emphasized they wanted guarantees that statewide roll-ups would protect personal privacy and not be used to penalize residents, and asked for additional briefings on how privacy protections and access controls would be implemented.
