"It's because I know as it gets deeper into this legislative session, there's gonna be many times that there's gonna be 2 or 3 meetings going on at the same time," she said. "A lot of times, work don't really get done like it needs to."
Stinson said waiting for a larger quorum can force members to leave once they reach quorum for another meeting, undermining the committee's ability to complete substantive business. Her comments were offered after the committee voted to adopt its rules and follow a rejected proposal to raise the quorum to nine members. Stinson framed her vote as pragmatic: lower quorum thresholds have been used in other committees to ensure meetings commence and work proceeds despite scheduling conflicts.
