Councilmembers said the project could attract tournaments, hotel demand and year‑round visitors but emphasized the need for noise modeling, light‑trespass analysis, and clear restrictions on gas‑powered events to protect nearby neighborhoods and the waterfront environment. Staff proposed a May 27 public hearing and recommended coordinated SEQR review by the planning commission.
