"Minor repairs are permitted — no auto sales, no major repairs, no auto body, no paint shops are permitted," Planning staff said, describing the use and the zoning sections under which the council has authority. Council members asked whether the upstairs residential unit would be affected by fumes and raised concerns about curb cuts, loss of on‑street parking, queuing, and neighborhood congestion; staff said the planning commission and ZBA will evaluate those impacts and that a public hearing is planned for May 27.
The council agreed to refer the application for coordinated SEQR review and to seek ZBA input early in the process where feasible. Staff said they will ask the applicant to clarify the number and duration of parking spaces for both the commercial and the grandfathered residential uses.
