NDOW reports strong fish numbers; Comins Lake stocking planned for next week

Heath Korell, an NDOW fisheries staffer, told the board that spring surveys showed numerous high-quality trout in the 18–22 inch range and unexpectedly strong bass numbers, including bass up to 15 inches. Korell said stocking at Comins Lake "will begin next week, with 22,000–24,000 fish, consisting primarily of rainbow trout, along with some tiger and brown trout."
Korell also reported increases in bluegill size and number, noting a bluegill measured 11 inches and weighed just over 2 pounds, and said angling pressure remains high outside the ice season. He announced the "Pike Out" event for the coming Saturday with roughly 105 adults and 20 children registered, drawing anglers from Utah, Las Vegas, and Reno.
