Beautification Committee sets Oct. 17 daffodil planting and seeks volunteers

The committee set a daffodil planting day for Oct. 17, with an Oct. 24 rain date, and agreed to meet at the library before working along the same roadside beds used last year. “We did plan a planting day for daffodil bulbs, which is October 17,” the Chair said.
Members discussed equipment and conditions at the planting site, noting rocky soil and past difficulty getting bulbs in. The Chair said volunteers should bring “regular shovels, small, like, trowels,” and the group reviewed a drill-bit attachment that had not worked well previously. The committee agreed the project would be low-cost and that the Chair would check the committee’s available funds to purchase bulbs.
The group also discussed promotion and volunteer recruitment at upcoming events so they can staff the planting day. Committee members agreed to publicize the date through the library and Farmer’s Market channels and to supply a signup link once details and supplies are confirmed.
