The county's emergency management coordinator (introduced in the meeting packet as Jesse) described the award: "This award agreement is to assist with paying for, $49,200 in, salary benefits and travel expenses related to my position as the emergency management coordinator," the coordinator said, requesting board approval. The board voted to authorize the chair to sign the grant agreement. The coordinator also summarized a memorandum of understanding that "amplifies what we've discussed and agreed to for many years in relation to emergency management and School District 2 in regards to any declared emergency or disaster in coordinating responses, sheltering, and other needs that the county and the citizens may have," and the board approved the MOU by voice vote.
Together the grant and the MOU fund and formalize the county's emergency management role and its operational coordination with the school district, including sheltering and resource support during declared emergencies.
