Director Lori Romero told trustees that "$1,024.96 has been cleared from accounts of individuals deceased or confirmed moved." Staff described multiple options to help patrons clear remaining fines: the new "Read Away Your Fines" program for children, having patrons write a short paragraph about how the library has impacted their life (worth up to $5), or volunteering one hour in exchange for up to $5 in fine forgiveness. Staff also discussed accepting donated books or social-media engagement as additional options.
Trustee Becky Murdock moved to continue the fine-clearing process and to move forward with fine-forgiveness events; Trustee Diane Hansen seconded and the motion passed with all trustees voting in favor.
