County engineer outlines road projects; nonprofit club asks for chloride on private access road

County Engineer Ken Muller briefed the commissioners on multiple road projects. He said the East Ridge Road project has been awarded and dust-control work is complete. Muller described a potential agreement with Hutton's to improve roughly 800 feet of unimproved county road at the end of Gulch Road to provide improved turnaround space; the county will review a draft agreement and cost estimates.
The Double Day Baseball Club formally requested that the county apply chloride to roughly 1,200 feet of gravel access to their baseball field to reduce dust; county staff noted the access is not a county road and asked the club for a formal written request. Muller estimated county labor and equipment for the application would cost about $1,500 if the county elects to provide services, with the club expected to supply or reimburse the cost of chloride product. The board asked staff to await a written request before taking further steps.
Muller also noted the county may apply for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding for eligible projects; no final decisions were made at the staff meeting.
