Commission sets public roundtable Aug. 27 and schedule for drafting regulations

Staff provided a timeline and engagement plan for public participation in drafting data-center regulations: another work session on Aug. 13 (electric utility presentation expected), a community roundtable on Aug. 27 at the Coliseum (doors 5 p.m., event 5:30 p.m.), a target rough draft on Sept. 17, and an Oct. 1 open house ahead of eventual city-council hearings.
Clayton Ender asked commissioners to review peer-community ordinances and provide topic priorities so staff can prepare a facilitated roundtable and a matrix of category examples. "Taking what I'm hearing from the commission between this meeting and next, I should be able to put together kind of a talking outline," Ender said, and emphasized that the Aug. 27 event will be to gather community input rather than present draft regulations.
The commission also noted other agenda items coming to Aug. 13 (comprehensive-plan public hearing, a rezoning item, and a special-use-permit recommendation), and staff reminded the public how to apply to fill a commission vacancy.
