Board votes to re-advertise proposed kennel ordinance amendments

Township Solicitor Scott Holbert outlined proposed amendments to Sections 201, 705, and 706.A of the Tinicum Township Zoning Ordinance to add a definition of “Kennel,” expand the definition of animals beyond dogs, and incorporate existing performance standards for odor and noise. Holbert said the revisions are substantively substantial and therefore require re-advertisement and a new public hearing under township procedures.
Supervisor John Cole clarified that pending court or Zoning Hearing Board matters (an appeal involving the “Waiting on a Friend” matter) will continue to be governed by the prior ordinance until any new application is submitted; Holbert confirmed that an adopted amendment would apply only to future applications. The Board authorized re-advertisement of the proposed ordinance changes (motion passed unanimously).
