The Tinicum Township Board of Supervisors voted July 7 to allow volunteers on specified township committees to participate remotely upon showing good cause. The change applies to volunteers on the Parks & Recreation Committee, Historical Commission, and Environmental Advisory Council; supervisors deliberated whether to include the Land Preservation Committee and Planning Commission before settling on the current set. The motion passed unanimously (All in favor, 3).
Chair Eleanor Breslin cited the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act authority allowing remote participation in properly advertised public meetings provided the public can hear discussions, and Manager Judith Danko said staff will finalize volunteer participation forms and the best technical method (telephone or conference line) to permit remote callers. The Board emphasized that each committee will set its own standards to determine whether good cause has been shown.
