Parks & Recreation committee seeks grants, board asks for costed plans

At the July 7 meeting the Parks & Recreation Committee summarized its community survey and recommended prioritizing low-impact, low-maintenance improvements. Committee member Robin Lochner reported the survey results: "320 responses (201 online and 119 paper)," with 81% of respondents using at least one township park and 87% supporting funding low-maintenance improvements and evaluating a name change for Tinicum Community Park.
The committee proposed short-term priorities at Four Brooks Park — including improved access around the memorial tree and converting an unused northern portion to meadow to reduce mowing — and requested authorization to research grant opportunities (including state programs such as DCNR) and to return with project estimates. The Board agreed the committee should prepare short- and long-term plans with cost estimates by the end of September and encouraged the committee to pursue donations and grant funding while recognizing township budget priorities for the municipal building and Public Works equipment.
