The board approved a new contract with Lunchmaster to supply elementary school meals for 2025–26 following a request‑for‑proposals that produced five bids and an impartial taste‑testing process involving board members and staff.
CBO Elha Doyen (Speaker 24) explained that the district’s elementary kitchens are not configured to prepare universal meals on site, requiring an outside vendor. Lunchmaster was recommended after site visits and the taste‑testing process; the vendor offers a parent online platform for meal selection and has worked with the district’s nutrition director to identify environmentally conscious packaging options. The contract is for one year with options to renew for additional one‑year terms.
Board members who participated in the tasting praised the blind evaluation process and supported the recommendation. The motion to approve the contract passed unanimously (5–0). Staff said they will continue to work with Lunchmaster to refine offerings and packaging.
