Cooper City Commission adopts 2025–26 budget after clarifying public-streets beautification line

The Cooper City Commission voted to adopt Resolution 25-63, the final budget for fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2025, and ending Sept. 30, 2026.
The City Attorney placed the budget resolution on the floor and a motion to adopt was made and seconded. During discussion Commissioner Smith raised a prior concern regarding a roughly $1,000,000 line item that had been labeled as "art," asking whether the intent or title had changed. The City Manager said staff intended to change the title to "beautification of public streets" and agreed to remove the word "art" from the line item to match the commission’s intent.
Commissioners indicated they were satisfied with that clarification. The City Manager noted no other substantive changes since first reading and said line-item budgeting allows staff to reposition funds and bring amendments to the commission if needed. With that, the commission called the vote and recorded unanimous approval of the budget resolution.
The budget adoption finalizes funding authorizations for the coming fiscal year; the City Manager and Finance Department will proceed with implementation under the clarified line-item labeling and return to the commission for any amendments.
