Maui County reports 203 applications, 7 hires from Careers Expo

Maui County's Department of Personnel Services told the Civil Service Commission on June 3 that the recent Careers Expo produced 203 applications, of which 182 were submitted during the event, and resulted in 41 interviews and 7 hires.
"Attendance exceeded expectations, with 203 applications received, including 182 submitted during the event," Director Cynthia Razo-Porter reported. She added 87 applicants created profiles on the day of the expo, and the positions receiving the most applications were Senior Clerk (22 applications) and DMVL Service Representative II (17 applications).
The Director flagged a concern that some departments follow up with applicants as long as a month after the event; commissioners questioned whether more timely engagement could improve recruitment outcomes. The Commission took no formal action but asked staff to continue reporting on hiring progress and any process improvements tied to the RFP work.
