Cynthia Razo-Porter, Director of Personnel Services for Maui County, announced during the commission's May 6 meeting that she will retire after 30 years of service, with her last day scheduled for July 31, 2026. She submitted a formal letter of retirement and provided a letter recommending Deputy Director Kainea Aiwohi-Alo for consideration as the next director.
Chair Arnold Wunder and the commissioners expressed appreciation for Razo-Porter's service and agreed to hold a special Civil Service Commission meeting on May 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the Director selection process and to include presentations on relevant Hawaii Revised Statutes. The Commission agreed that the selection process and any formal recommendation would be handled at that special meeting; no formal appointment was made on May 6.
