Bristow adopts 10% hotel tax, updates alarm permit rules in emergency action

The Bristow City Council adopted an ordinance (Ordinance #207-051826) amending Chapter 12 to levy a 10% excise tax on gross proceeds from hotel room occupancy and to allow the Oklahoma State Tax Commission to collect the tax. The ordinance establishes definitions, exemptions, operator duties, registration, returns, penalties, and an appeals process. The vote recorded Councilmember Joe Church as abstaining; the remaining members voted in favor.
Council then approved Ordinance #208-051826 to add an Article VI covering emergency services alarm permits, fees for failure to obtain or renew, exemptions, enforcement and penalties. The council voted to declare an emergency on the alarm ordinance to make it effective immediately.
