Bristow wins Route 66 Revitalize Grant to add statues, benches and neon way‑finding signs downtown

Mayor Kris Wyatt told the council that Bristow was awarded a Route 66 Revitalize Grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce after two prior unsuccessful applications. The mayor described planned uses including music programming on Main Street, new park benches, three life-size statues and two neon way‑finding signs positioned at the Route 66 entrances to the city, and asked for five people to serve on a project committee.
Wyatt said she also wants additional crosswalk lights and streetlights along Main Street and thanked the Historical Society for its support. The council did not take formal action on design or funding at the May 4 meeting; the mayor will convene a committee to develop specific proposals for council consideration.
