Bedford landfill solar array begins producing power; town to publish live production dashboard

The Chubbuck Road solar facility at Bedford’s landfill is complete and began supplying power to the grid on May 26 after Eversource granted permission to operate, Assistant Town Manager Jeanne Walker told the Energy Commission on May 28.
“A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on May 11th, and the facility officially began power production on May 26 following permission to operate from Eversource,” Walker said. She told commissioners the town will publish a dashboard showing real-time energy production once remaining technical glitches are fixed and that the software will be integrated into the town website.
Commission members also noted that the Town Council has contracted with the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) to broker the town’s renewable energy certificates (RECs). The May update said the array is intended to offset municipal electricity spending, and commissioners will monitor production and REC contracting at future meetings.
The facility’s startup timing and the forthcoming dashboard are intended to give residents and officials direct visibility into generation and how it reduces the town’s electricity purchases.
