The contractor quoted $125 per hour for the assessment; staff will use that estimate to decide whether to proceed with repairs. The board discussed concerns about mold or mildew if air handlers are restarted without remediation and agreed to await the assessment and a contractor contact for a company experienced with similar basement moisture issues.
The discussion also touched on related repair needs, including whether ductwork must be cleaned and whether slab cracks might be permitting water migration; staff said further investigation is required and cost estimates are not yet available. The board did not take formal action beyond authorizing staff to obtain the assessments and quotes needed to determine next steps.
