Lindbergh said he had researched large infrastructure projects and warned of hidden long-term costs. He told the council that data centers have two linked demands: the water used in energy production and the water used for cooling. He warned that increased data-center capacity could raise grid demand and cited a large increase in energy needs, saying the issue should be analyzed before spending public funds.
Lindbergh also said he had not found much long-term research on the net local benefits of data centers, asking, "Like, how many jobs how many jobs are they gonna replace, you know, with, like, 0.5 of these people in here?" He urged caution and further study before the city "spend[s] your money on it." No formal council action or response requiring follow-up was recorded at the meeting.
