Nottoway supervisors adopt higher planning-and-zoning fees, add ordinance language

Planning and economic-development staff presented a revised fee schedule modeled on neighboring localities and the board voted to adopt the fee increases and add the necessary county-code language.
Greg Zoda outlined changes that include new charges for zoning permits, site-plan and subdivision reviews, family and single-lot divisions, sign permits, and specific rates for cell‑tower colocation ($1,500) and new cell‑tower locations ($3,500). He said the schedule was based on comparisons with Cumberland and Dinwiddie counties and intended to charge for staff time that had previously been uncompensated. The board opened the public hearing, heard no public comment, and approved the fee structure along with a motion to add ordinance language in the county code.
Vice Chair Norton asked staff to estimate expected revenue impact while budget work continues; Zoda committed to reviewing 2024–2025 permit history and delivering a projection within two weeks. The fee increases take effect as adopted and staff will return with a revenue estimate to the board.
