City staff told the Cookeville City Council that a change order is needed on the Interstate Drive lane‑widening project to repair a rough drilled area and complete the work within a two‑ to three‑week window. The estimated increase for Change Order No. 1 is $221,220; staff asked council to approve incorporating the work into the existing lane‑widening contract using available quantities. "It is estimated, the change order increase is $221,220, and we'll verify that with final in place quantities in the field," the presenting staff member said.
Officials said the change order will bring the total contract to $718,943.50 and will not extend the contract time; staff recommended approval. The council moved, seconded and recorded a 5-0 vote to approve the change order, enabling crews to complete repairs and reopen the lane within the stated timeframe.
