Two bids exceed engineer estimate for Dakins Lake cabin; Conservation to review

Conservation staff opened competitive bids April 21 for the Dakins Lake cabin project and reported two offers substantially higher than the engineer’s estimate. Mike Cox, Conservation Director, and Parks Superintendent Ryan Wiemold announced a Giordino Construction bid of $676,000 and a Harold Pike Construction bid of $640,000; Wiemold said the engineer’s estimate was $468,000 and added, "there is a discrepancy on the bid sheet."
Cox told the Board the bids would be reviewed and Conservation would return with a recommendation. The board took no award action at the meeting. The bids and supporting documents are on file with the Conservation Department and will be evaluated for completeness and conformance with the project specifications before any contract negotiation or award.
