The City of Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously Aug. 6 to approve moving Officer Dela Rosa Lenz from probationary to permanent status, effective Aug. 17, 2026. Lieutenant Michael Wong recommended the action, saying Lenz “has consistently shown temporary performance in the execution of her duties” and “has been a very motivated person since she started.”
Lenz addressed the commission at the podium, introducing herself: “My name is Dela Rosa Lehi. Most people just call me Rosa.” She told commissioners she has been with the department about 1.5 years, previously worked with Wood County reserves, and completed an associate degree in criminal justice in Rapids. Commissioners asked a few brief questions about her experience; the president called for a motion, which was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The commission’s action formalizes Lenz’s status after an 18‑month review period. Lieutenant Wong also emphasized the officer’s initiative, noting she kept busy with calls and assisted other staff. The permanent appointment will take effect on Aug. 17, 2026.
