Library staff told the commission that joining the Juniper Library Consortium allows local libraries to share catalog records and reduces cataloging burdens, cutting costs compared with purchasing systems individually. The Emery County share of consortium costs for the year was stated as $2,152.38, covering service from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
The county staff member said participation reduces annual software costs that would otherwise be closer to $10,000 and requested ratification of the memorandum of agreement, which the commission approved by roll call.
The library representative said the MOA was signed before the meeting deadline to maintain access to Aspen Discovery and other shared services. The commission voted to ratify participation in the consortium.
