Parks & Recreation liaison urges commission to expect staffing requests after recreation assessment

Greg Filios, identifying himself as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, used the public-comment period to alert the personnel commission to an upcoming recreation department assessment scheduled for Wednesday, including in-person sessions from 9–10 a.m. and 6–7 p.m., plus an online survey.
"This Wednesday, the recreation department is having an assessment," Filios said, and urged the commission to expect the assessment's recommendations may include requests for additional recreation personnel, interns or program directors. Filios noted staffing pressures across the city and said that, in his view, police staffing remains near 2008 levels.
Staff told Filios the assessment results will go to the city council and that, if the council approves new positions or titles, those changes would later be routed through the personnel commission for classification and placement. The commission did not take immediate action but acknowledged the assessment and said staff would "take it under advisement."
