The Ashland City Council voted to sell a 188‑square‑foot portion of the Briscoe School site to the Oregon Department of Transportation to allow ODOT to build a compliant ADA curb ramp at the southwest corner of Laurel Street and East Main Street.
City staff said the sale would be a direct conveyance to ODOT and reported an appraisal value of $14 per square foot, resulting in an approximate fee take of $2,600. Director Flurry summarized the project’s purpose and said ODOT would process necessary paperwork and update deeds if the council approved the direct sale. No members of the public signed up to comment during the public hearing.
Councillor Blum moved to approve the conveyance as outlined in the acquisition summary dated April 28, 2026. The motion was seconded and passed on roll call. Mayor Tanya Graham and councilors thanked staff for accommodating accessibility improvements and noted the sale’s narrow scope and clear public‑safety benefit.
The sale is procedural: staff will finalize documents with ODOT and return any final closing paperwork as required by city practice.
